Mais parfois, c\u2019est lui qui explose. Paul disait aimer les animaux \u201cplus que les humains\u201d. Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce qu\u2019un jour, son chien s\u2019approche trop pr\u00e8s de sa col\u00e8re. Il travaille dans l\u2019informatique, vit seul en p\u00e9riph\u00e9rie de Montpellier. Dans son salon, une photo tr\u00f4ne : lui, tout sourire, un golden retriever dans les bras. \u201c<strong>C\u2019est mon fils<\/strong>\u201d, disait-il souvent de Newton, son chien, adopt\u00e9 \u00e0 la SPA deux ans plus t\u00f4t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ses proches n\u2019ont jamais dout\u00e9 de son attachement. Il partageait des vid\u00e9os de chiens chaque semaine. Il pleurait devant les sauvetages diffus\u00e9s sur TikTok. Il connaissait les marques de croquettes comme d\u2019autres les crus de Bordeaux. Fort. Longtemps. Paul, qui sortait d\u2019une r\u00e9union tendue avec son manager, a cri\u00e9. Mais elle est tomb\u00e9e.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La claque n\u2019a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 violente. Newton n\u2019a pas saign\u00e9. Il n\u2019a m\u00eame pas g\u00e9mi. Mais il s\u2019est fig\u00e9. Puis il s\u2019est \u00e9loign\u00e9. Lentement. En reculant. Ni un humain. Il n\u2019est pas alcoolique. Il ne joue pas. Il n\u2019a pas de casier. Alors pourquoi ? Mais il est aussi charg\u00e9 \u00e9motionnellement. Le chien devient un substitut d\u2019\u00e9coute, de pr\u00e9sence, voire un r\u00e9gulateur \u00e9motionnel. Quand il ne joue plus ce r\u00f4le \u2014 par exemple, quand il d\u00e9range \u2014 l\u2019effondrement est brutal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Autrement dit : ce n\u2019est pas Newton que Paul a frapp\u00e9. Et parfois, possessif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>Je lui parlais plus qu\u2019\u00e0 mes amis<\/em>\u201d, admet Paul. \u201c<em>C\u2019\u00e9tait lui que je serrais dans mes bras quand \u00e7a n\u2019allait pas. Il dormait sur le lit. Il mangeait avant moi.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans son discours, Newton n\u2019\u00e9tait plus un chien. Il \u00e9tait un confident, un rep\u00e8re, une \u00e9ponge \u00e0 \u00e9motions.<br>Jusqu\u2019au jour o\u00f9, en aboyant, il est devenu une source de stress \u2014 et donc, un \u201ctra\u00eetre\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce type de projection est courant chez les ma\u00eetres tr\u00e8s fusionnels. Ils donnent \u00e9norm\u00e9ment. Mais attendent aussi \u2014 inconsciemment \u2014 que l\u2019animal les \u201csauve\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quand ce mirage s\u2019effondre, la frustration peut exploser. Newton, lui, est rest\u00e9 en boule au bout du canap\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le lendemain, il a appel\u00e9 un \u00e9ducateur canin. Puis une comportementaliste. Et enfin, un th\u00e9rapeute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJ<em>e ne voulais pas devenir ce mec qui frappe.  Alors j\u2019ai tout dit. Tout, sauf que je ne l\u2019aimais pas. Parce que je l\u2019aime, toujours<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce qu\u2019il a d\u00e9couvert en th\u00e9rapie l\u2019a boulevers\u00e9 : Depuis des mois, Paul \u00e9tait en \u00e9tat d\u2019hyperstress chronique. Il dormait mal. Mangeait peu. Ruminait en boucle ses \u00e9checs professionnels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Newton absorbait tout \u00e7a. D\u00e9bord\u00e9s. D\u00e9connect\u00e9s d\u2019eux-m\u00eames. Il a install\u00e9 une routine plus calme. Il accompagne des adoptants en difficult\u00e9, pour \u00e9viter les abandons ou les r\u00e9actions violentes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il n\u2019a jamais dit \u00e0 ses amis ce qui s\u2019\u00e9tait pass\u00e9. \u201cIls ne comprendraient pas.
